Just wondering if people could shed any light on which one to get... was after a 15inch laptop which would be fairly good for gaming and these two both caught my eye.

I realise that both got their pros and cons and that the asus is £300 more but it seems like you get a lot for your money. The main thing that was putting me of the gx660r was the build quality, lots of people seem to be experiencing annoying issues with that laptop where as the asus seems to have a much better build quality.

Anywho any information/opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Any advice? Was hoping to make the decision by the end of today before the offer ends on the MSI

If you can afford the extra cost better choose the Asus Laptop. There are indeed some glitches with most MSI Netbooks or Laptops... Not very important, but still annoying ones...

Every notebook has its faults, my brother has the gx660r and its a nice notebook and the only thing that bugged me and my bro was the hard drives were slow so we installed a ssd. I have the asus G73JH and i love it but that was not without its glitches and you would expect none with a £1600 notebook. I don't know much about the G53JW but do your research before jumping in so you get the right choice for you. You may find info on the G53 here.

Cheers for the replies, in the end went for the gx660r after taking everything into consideration. Will see how it is when I get it and then if needs be upgrade the hdd's to an SSD and a 7200rpm HDD

What kind of glitches are we talking about?

It's just that if the laptop is not powered for some minutes on the Main or on battery, it just loose some settings such as Wifi, webcam and bluetooth, and may be some others...

So If you power it on again, you'll have to use fn xxx to reactivate them again.

Sometimes very annoying as you may forget this and won't understand why Wifi, Bluetooth or the Webcam are not functionning untill you remember thses glitches... ^^

This is specific to MSI laptops and Netbooks !

I was meaning more the hardrive issues, screen viewing angles and the insensitive touch pad. Although like I said have taken the plunge anyway as for the price the MSI is still very good value. But cheers for the heads up, will bear that in mind

Yeah have been warned about that, basically will see what happens when it arrives, if it is really that horrific and I find that I cannot live with it then I will have to return it :-( but yeah am hoping it will suit my needs.
