Hello all! We have the MSI GX70 3CC-228UK Destroyer with us to unbox and show to you all.
Here we have the box with the trademark MSI logo’s and features from Killer who supply the outstanding network and SteelSeries who provide the keyboard specifically designed for gaming.
Inside the box we have the package with the driver disc, manuals etc, the power leads and of course the notebook itself!
Here is the notebook outside the packaging; It has brushed aluminium on the back cover and under the keyboard which gives the notebook a great look! The back has the MSI dragon logo which in Asian legends means king of the world, therefore represents MSI’s commitment to provide only the best products!
Here is the 17.3” Full HD anti-glare LCD panel in LED backlight; as you can see the screen is great quality showing colours very vibrant and with anti-glare you will have no disturbances when gaming!
The notebook features a built in HD 720P webcam and microphone.
Here is the left side of the notebook and we have the microphone and speaker inputs, they are gold plated for maximum quality with no exceptions! This excels your gaming experience allowing you to hear every enemy and have the upper hand in every battle! There are 3 USB 3.0 ports with one of them being a supercharger which is specifically designed to charge devices faster, especially for iPhone and iPad! There is a SD card reader as well to transfer data to and from with ease.
Here is the right side of the notebook were there are 2 USB 2.0 ports and the BD combo/DVD super multi for all your discs.
This is the back of the notebook where there is the security lock, the power port, Ethernet port with killer gaming network so you always have super-fast speeds when gaming, VGA, mini display and HDMI ports; the GX70 supports matrix display so you can have 3 monitors either showing a full display or showing 3 different programs on each screen! This means you can be playing a game on one screen while getting tips AND checking your Facebook all at once!
Here is the keyboard by SteelSeries, it has been specifically designed to optimize gaming with fully backlit keys that can be changed to over 1,000 different colour combinations and five different scenario modes so you can have full visibility at all times when gaming while having the coolest looking keyboard! There are 2 speakers on each side of the keyboard which have sound blaster cinema that has awesome sound when gaming, listening to music, watching movies or anything else! On the SteelSeries keyboard there is a change to the usual keyboard layout, the CTRL key is moved to the left of the keyboard and has been made larger as this is an important key for gamers and is now more accessible. The windows key has moved to the right of the keyboard so while your gaming you don’t press it by accident, so now you won’t quit your game in the middle of a battle!
This button is a dedicated key above the touchpad to turn it on and off so if you have a mouse plugged in for gaming or other tasks you won’t be moving the curser with the touchpad by mistake!
Here we have the LED indicators underneath the mouse pad with the Bluetooth, WLAN, battery charge, sleep and disc indicator.
Above the keyboard there are some touch buttons that include the media button, fan button to boost the fan for extra cooling, backlit key button, airplane mode, screen on/off, dragon gaming centre, caps lock and num lock keys. All easily accessible from the keyboard with 1 touch!

This is the MSI boot configure, it’s the first software that opens on start of your MSI notebook. It’s a thoughtful program which is designed to let you choose how you want your notebook to boot up, the 2 screenshots show the options available; you can choose between the windows 8.1 metro or the normal desktop screen on log in. As well you have the option to choose whether the start button goes to the start screen or the app screen. This simple program allows you to customize your notebook to your needs!
The GX70 has a Killer E2200 Intelligent networking LAN chip. It automatically detects and accelerates game traffic for smoother, faster gameplay by recognizing and prioritising online game data packs. Therefore in any game you’re playing weather a FPS or MMO you will always have the fastest response time possible in every situation! You can also manually decide the priority of each application to maximize network performance on the programs you need the most!
We got some results in gameplay on the GX70 from gaming till disconnected who tested the notebook on battlefield 4, crysis 3 and call of duty ghosts! These games are very high demanding and require very good systems to run smoothly, the results are as follows.
Battlefield 4 on high settings ran at 40-50 FPS and on ultra settings it ran at 30-40 FPS so altogether very good FPS!
Crysis 3 on high and ultra settings ran without any noticeable flaws so altogether smooth gameplay throughout
