Hi

Looking for some advice as im not hugely technical. I bought a MSI GX70 for some casual gaming. I have bought several games some of which run fine and some which do not.

The ones that do not appear to have like like slow motion judder kind of like really bad lag but this occurs whether or not the game is online or offline.

The newish Tomb Raider runs perfectly and looks beautiful for example but The Golf Club and some others have the effect I described above.

Im fairly sure my drivers and Direct X etc is all up to date so im at a bit of a loss. Ive tried turning graphics levels down but even on the lowest some games still have this problem.

Also Football Manager has like flashes of lightning going off across the screen like jaggies im fairly sure thats graphics related but it says my drivers are up to date

Any advice greatly appreciated but please give answers as if your talking to a dummy as I said im not greatly technical.

These games are coming through Steam if that is off any relevance.

Thanks

'What the developers have to say:
“Please remember that this is an Early Access game - it is NOT a finished product! There are still bugs, missing features and content and more optimizations to be made '

In football manager , in the config section look for a setting called vsync on and select it

Dont forget to check that the GTX card is handling the game, not the intel chip! You'd notice as you'd drop to single figure FPS! Starcraft used to do it to me until i whitelisted it. It still does it occasionally if i leave it on the pause scren for a while!

The GX70 if I'm not mistaken is running an AMD APU (A10 5750m) along with a rebadged 7970M (8970M or 290m). The lack of performance in some games could be due to a CPU bottleneck which this laptop (and the GX60 before it) suffer from.

Run MSI Aftrerburner with Rivatuner Statistics server installed (part of the Afterburner download) and monitor your GPU & CPU utilisation. The stutter could be a result of the CPU being maxed out whilst the GPU jumps from low utilisation to full utilisation depending on what happens on screen.

Surely ive not spent the guts of a grand on a laptop which is sold as a gaming laptop to play some fairly simple games that cant run them. Im sure its something to do with the setup . Ive read about a bottleneck but surely it cant run tomb raider looking stunning and not even be able to run the menus in golf club or the menus in the free ghost recon game etc. It can run BF4 no probs too which id say is much more intense.

This is not bugs in golf club as its happening on a few gamesand exactly same on each. Yet some run fine and some of the more graphically challenging.

Thats the details below
