I bought one of these last week and was going to post a little review or something but I didn't know what to put really.

Would anyone like any particular benchmarks run on it or anything if you were thinking of purchasing one ?
 
I was looking at gaming notebooks id be very interested in some benchmarks there arent any proper reviews that i can find on the internet. I would be interested to know about the touch panel button thing.

I have 2 notebooks on my shortlist, either the GX740 with 1Gb ati 5870 with an aftermarket core i7 720qm upgrade (only one i can find with 5870 is core i5) or Toshiba A665 with core i7 740QM with 1Gb Nvidia 350M.

Chris what model did you get ?
I am very interested in a mini review from a users POV as I am very interested in buying one, possibly a US import
 
I got the UK GX740, when I get home later I will upload some pictures or something, I havent had much chance to play with it yet but seems good.

Things that have annoyed me so far though are :

No external volume control
No catch to keep the lid shut, it basically holds its self down, im fussy I like a catch
Overall build quality isnt up to the standard of say a MacBook Pro, but then again its well under half the price !


Are there any specific benchmarks people want run ?
 
The volume does not bother me too much as I use separate mouse/KB anyway.

Interested in Screen glare/reflection, hinge strength/flex and top clam flex/feel (screen cover).
Usual What you think of temps/fan noise etc too pls.

If i did buy the UK version I would want to replace the CPU to a slightly better i5(540) or an i7 depending upon what is available on the bay.

a 3Dmark 06 run would be great, link us the results pls so we can compare the cpu/gpu scores.
Be interested to know if/what overclocks you can get on the 5870 too

Also;

How hot does the body of the laptop get during a good gaming session?
How's the battery life for light use (Internet/word document work etc)
A few benchmarks, 3dmark06, vantage, some HDD benchmarks if possible.

I'm sure I can think of more to ask you!
 
havent forgotten this thread ! I've just been really busy with work and not been online much, so I will get a 3dmark on tonight and start putting some words together !
