MSI K8N Neo 2 + A64 3200+

Trying to overclock this puppy wi Corsair XMS 4000 ram.

Just trying to run it at the same speed but by upping the fsb to 250 and lowering the multi to 8.

However, rig won't boot into windows - just freezes. Why should it not run the same speed? RAM is rated to 250 fsb so that shouldn't be a problem

The xp3200 has a locked 11x multi doesn't it?? The msi board will allow you to select a different multi but it wont change it so when your booting up it will be trying to boot at 250x11 resulting in the lock up

To be honest they dont clock that well at all. They're near to max clocks anyway, but if your lucky you might be able to get 2.3 - 2.4 out of a good one :)

But I can select any multiplier from 10 downwards. So I have put in 8 x 250 - it goes through the post at 2000 but wont boot into windows?

It reports it as running at 2000 in the bios - surely its not trying with an 11 multi?

It's because when you select 8 multiplyer, it defaults back to 11 because its locked on that chip. So really its 11x250 = 2.7  ...

edit: and the normal clock for that chip is 2200, not 2000

Think mine is the venice core A64 3200+ would there be any mileage in selling it and going for summat else.

Whats the best clocking A64 out there?

Don't want to change my rig until conroe is established - was just trying to get the most out of the components I have - C&C Generals is slowin down somethin terrible wi 8 players
