I sent off a MSI 290X lightening the other day as it was black screening on me when testing with games such as crysis 3 or on desktop or running any benchmarks that stresses it over 70c, was also getting corruption on desktop aswell.

which can clearly bee seen here.

Just had a webnote saying tested on 2 rigs and no fault found :/

My PSU a EVGA 850watt G2 so it not that.

and both the ASUS 290 & XFX 7950 i have work perfectly.

Did you give them the fault in detail? Also make sure the person at the other end wrote down the fault properly (should be in the email they send you) as it took me about 4-5 calls (no exaggeration) to get someone to actually write the full details of the fault on my monitor which got replaced.

Similar case to my Razer Mamba told them the exact details of the fault and on which conditions it can be replicated and all I got back was "mouse keeps disconnecting" I had to call up and tell them that's not the exact problem to which they replied "just write a note and stick that to the mouse when sending it in". Er...No that's your job to take down the notes of what I've just told you. I eventually just went through Razer directly who sent out a replacement.

On the other hand could there be a chance that another component of yours is at fault?

The corruption/failure during boot definitely doesn't look good.

Bit of a long shot, but how are you connecting the card to the screen?

The only time I RMA'd something I put a note in the box exactly what the problem is.

It's fine to say "It's their job to take down notes and make sure they get passed on" (paraphrased), but really isn't it easier for everyone if you just stick a note on the product.

Whoever tests it can see the issue, and it gets resolved quicker.

To be fair this isn't exactly a subtle fault and shouldn't really have needed mentioning other than told that is faulty. My 2p is that they just booted up with it for 2 seconds and said fine and carried on.

When i sent it in i stuck a note on the box clearly explaining the problem with this card, I've also connected it by DVI I tested both of them and was getting same problem.

On the PSU it was connected by 2 seperate 8 pin connectors, even tried the 3rd 6 pin and was getting same problem.

I wouldn't have wasted £17 to send this back if it wasn't something wrong with it.

And if worse case scenario the note is lost at their side and they only look at the comments they've taken down on the system which are incomplete (and in my case incorrect) who would pay postage to have it sent back? Not to mention the time wasted.

It's easy to say "just write a note" but if you do the job properly in the first place you're more likely to get it right first time.

Anyway not to derail the thread Ixon did you check out what Divine Pain said?

Thing is I tried everything before sending this card off, just to make sure it wasn't something I've done wrong, my mobo has latest bios voltages all checked out fine even watched the VRM temps which where both fine.

Anything that pushed this card over the 70c on the core it would suddenly black screen & cause problems on the desktop.

4K test on 3Dmark would kill it
crysis 3 after about 10 mins would kill it.
random corruptions on desktop, as seen in video.

Nope case temp are fine, does the exact same thing with the cover off, the card wasn't overheating i monitored the temps.

As for changing the colour depth it was set to 8 as default.

Have you got another PSU to test with or know someone you could borrow one from? What make/model your PSU is doesn't tell us it's working fine, nor does it working with two lower power cards. It sounds to me like the card - but eliminating other stuff is a good idea.

OCUK should have just replaced it, customer is king and all that.
not sure just blindly replacing stuff that's not broken is the best idea! That's asking for people to abuse it tbh. Not suggesting for a moment that the OP is trying to abuse anything! But OCUK have to have some testing process (imagine the fault is elsewhere - not testing the components is actually bad for the user too!)

He's wanting it replaced not a refund, if he goes to all the hassle to return it then OCUK should give him the benefit of the doubt and replace it like Amazon would. Customer is king.
