Stick with what you have...unless you plan on going custom water and banging 1.5v+ through them, then go for it :p
 
If your just gaming i doubt you will see a huge overall difference between most of the high end cards especially at 1080p, OFC if your a bencher and willing to push things thats different :)
 
Lightning best 290X ever made for benching and gaming Samsung mems very efficient. I would change Lightning so dam fun!!!
 
Nope, you'll need a custom block due to how non reference the lightning card is.

That being said the 780 lightning is less money and this upgrade is probably not worth it unless you are balls to walls overclocking. Even then the 970 might be able overclock like crazy if the card has the right voltage controller and custom tools/bios gets released.
