MSI Lightning 5870 Overclock Advice

Using Furmark it doesn't matter what speeds/voltage I have it at, I still get articfacts.. even at stock!

Is this just not the best program to use?

Stock speeds: 900/1200

Managed to run it at 960/1300 for a good hour of Metro 2033 on High with no problems/artifacts and good temps.

I'm really not sure what a good overclock is on graphics cards!
 
Just loaded up eq2 afterwards and was getting the same artifacts! Reset to stock, same thing.. rebooted.. all is well, it seems!

Think thats put me off overclocking the graphics card, I have no idea what I did wrong.

I didnt put anymore than 1.25 volts through it as from what I can find, 1.35 is the max recommended.

Though am I supposed to reboot after each clock change, I assumed no due to amd overdrive not rebooting when I let it have a tinker on its own
