Allowed it to install the new version which then won't launch giving this error "The platform does not support this application".

Anyone else seeing the same thing?

I wouldn't be using that junk anyway. It's the no 1 cause of bricked boards when updating the bios. Then again, MSI boards are extremely prone to bricking when updating the bios no matter which of the 3 different methods you use.

You guys must be lucky then (go and do euromillions :D). Check their forums out and see the countless tales of misery caused by their bios flashing tools. There are many on here as well.

I recently upgraded to an MSI x99 Gaming 7 motherboard. I have used live update numerous times and have successfully updated the bios several times without issue.

With respect to the OP - when I updated live update from 6.0.19 to 6.0.20, I got the same message as you. I did a bit of googling - if you turn off Fast boot - restart PC, then install Live Update it worked for me. You can turn on Fast boot again after. Not sure why that works.

You can easily find horror stories of people bricking Asus and Gigabyte boards through bios updates also, so are there actually any statistics to show that MSI are inherently more unreliable compared to other manufacturers? In this report from 2014, MSI does not look particularly bad in terms of motherboard reliability (in terms of RMA rate) and top for graphics cards:

So not sure what basis there is for the MSI bashing?
