Firstly, let me begin by saying this is my first ever post and I am NOT a gamer at all. I primarily use a PC (no Apple device) for productivity in terms of office-based typing (Word/Excel), watching YouTube and Netflix, and just surfing the net in general.
I currently have a 24inch Dell Ultrasharp which I purchased in 2014 and now want to go bigger and move on with new technology.
Primarily, the idea was to go to 4K and get a 32" IPS monitor with the best contrast ratio for a LCD screen (2000/1). The new BenQ MA320U appeared to tick all the boxes and can be picked up for £550.
However, someone at work suggested that I should spend a bit more money and look into getting a smaller OLED with 2K and a 27" screen. They commented that OLED would be the far superior screen in terms of the contrast levels I crave for watching movies, HDR ability and future proofing myself as I wont get another screen for another 10 years!!!
Now the questions I have...
1. Is 27" too small a jump from 24"? I sit about 80cm from my screen and want to go bigger.
2. Is 2K a massive compromise on 4K on a 27" screen?
3. What is the text clarity like on a OLED screen compared to an IPS LCD screen? Some say I will see some flaws in the OLED in this respect (noting I used my PC for a lot of typing in Word/Excel).
4. The MSI MAG27QPX does not allow firmware updates. Is this a dealbreaker noting I have never ever felt the need to update firmware on my old Dell monitor? I am not a person who has an expert eye in terms of colour etc or someone who uses their PC for producing videos.
5. OLED burn in. I use my PC for about 6 hours per day minimum. Am I going to suffer burn in after a while with the OLED knowing that the toolbar and icons are generally static all the time?
6. Should I bite the bullet and spend another £200 and actually go for the MSI MAG 321QPX which means I get a 4K monitor with a 32" screen. I know it is a £250 jump up from what I originally was going to buy but is it worth doing?
Thanks for any help.
