Not sure if this is the right thread to put this in.

This monitors works with g-sync as it's detected by both nvidia control panel and the monitor itself however in games, the screen tearing is gone but there is a nasty after blur effect when moving about in the game world. This is most noticeable on dark areas, it smudges across slightly and really off putting.

Looking at the monitor stats however says it's now running at around 60-70Hz which is about half of what this monitor can do, 144Hz.

Any help with this?

VRR (freesync/gsync) will match the refresh rate to the frame rate of whatever is being displayed so if you are getting 60-70 fps then that would be expected. As for the smearing I believe VA panels can suffer from black smearing so maybe that is what you are experiencing?

You can try testing the different overdrive settings and see how it fares.

G-sync on:
- Normal mode = little smearing
- Fast mode = Smearing
- Fastest = A lot of smearing

G-Sync off:
All is fine with no smearing. Fastest will dim the screen brightness slightly.
