Hi all,

I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction or if I should RMA the motherboard and/or CPU.

I've got an MSI MEG Unify x570. I flashed it to the latest BIOS before starting this build. I've installed the Ryzen 5900x, but I can't get it to POST. I either get the debug code 00 with the CPU light or 0d with the CPU light on.

I've tried the following:
- Putting the ram in various slots of RAM.
- checked and re-seated the CPU.
- Tried flashing to an older version of the BIOS.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The GPU was in there originally, and the same issue was occurring.

I took it out when I was trying to re-seat the CPU and seeing if the same issue occurred.

I can see you have opening in the case, are you using riser? Plug it directly if yes.

Have you tried to clear the cmos by using the jumper pins on the motherboard and taking the battery out, disconnect the psu ?

Take the cpu out and check for any bent pins again and did you reflash the bios to the latest.

So, quick update.

I actually read a post where someone had an issue with the USB stick they were using. I tried a different USB stick using the same process I did before, and that seems to have gotten me further.

The issue I have now is that some times it'll post and get to the BIOS and then some times it won't and will just show an A1 debug code.

A1 debug code is IDE reset. Check in bios if windows fast boot is enabled and if it is disable it.
Are you using DP? Try hdmi instead. It's common issue with certain bios versions

X570 UNIFY here, I can't even FLASH my bios, put pen drive in, press the button just get 5 beeps with only psu connected.

did I get a dodgy board from amazon? I am trying on usb 3.0 drive. might try on a 2.0 but don't even have one any more gona get my parents to bring one round later

There's a specific USB port that you need to use for flashing. It should say next to it and presumably be the one near the button.

Edit. Sorry, think I've misunderstood what you're saying, you're talking about drive not port.

of course I am using that one. If i remove the pen drive with nothing in it I don't get 5 beeps I get the bios flash button flashing twice.

5 beeps - Processor error - bad processor

no cpu installed. should still flash though. Seems like a pen drive issue to me or DOA mainboard.

Did you format pen drive correctly?... most like FAT32.

worked on a different pen drive thank god.

I have another issue now though. the AIO replacement bracket, the backplate is loose. need some gorilla tape between the backplate and mainboard to hold it down since its got some movement on the new screws :/

So, the good news (for me) is that it now all appears to be working since I've installed Windows.

I did have to clear the CMOS before I installed Windows, but since then I've done quite a few restarts, and I've had no issues with it not posting so far.

Unfortunately, my troubles seem to be back. I left the computer on for a few hours and came back to a black screen.

I restarted the computer and was greeted with the CPU light and the debug code 07. I had to clear the CMOS again for it to boot up to Windows.

I'm not sure if 07 code with the CPU light suggests there is something wrong with the CPU or the memory.

I heard this board currently has trouble running ram over 3200mhz with ryzen 5000.

I've just noticed this on the MSI website under memory support for the board:

I'm not sure if by 'single sided' they mean I can only run one stick or just that the memory is single sided.

That would be my luck. I'm running CORSAIR VENGEANCE RGB PRO 32GB (4x8) DDR4 3600 (PC4-28800) C18 at the moment.
I'd try with just 2 sticks for now or try downclocking to run at 3000~3200 and see if that helps as a temporary measure until the bios fixes, which bios are you on btw?.
