MSI Nvidia GTX 460 is on fire!..... literally.

I am sure MSI will be reasonable and replace any damaged hardware for you. As said above, the likelihood of a fault like this is tiny but the PR consequences can be disproportionate. They will be happy to help you so long as you proovide adequate proof of damage/fault.

Treating you good may even make them a tidy sales boost.

yeah because his whole pc is inoperable isnt it:o

OP, just laugh it off. you survived, nothing else got nuked. just send it back to ocuk and they'll replace it. Complaining isnt going to change anything is it lol.

well, I will expect to get compensation for the motherboard and my postage costs paid back as well. Or should the consumer end up paying for it?

there's nothing wrong with the motherboard? its got some charring on it...clean it?

its like people who claim for whiplish. Yeah i went there, it's entirely the same thing :/

The charring on the mobo will invalidate it's warranty as it's external damage so yea he should be entitled to a replacement. And not claiming for whiplash is silly, u were injured through no fault of ur own and suffered a loss, in your case comfort, in OP's case the warranty on his mobo. End of the day failing components is built into an manufacturer's business model (as are claims with insurance companies) so no one is actually suffering by the OP seeking some recompense.

Blimey lol! I'm looking to get a 460 myself so was intrigued as to the performance critique I was expecting from this thread haha

Yeah, I'd definitely expect to be compensated for the card AND the mobo. Most companies will be keen to see that you're satisfied at the end of dealings when something completely unexpected [not to mention dangerous] happens with a product and which puts other products a customer owns at risk.

Indeed mate, some people just don't stand up for themselves. Oh well, its their loss and not ours.

My wife had a hit-and-run with our baby in the car and she claimed whiplash, damage to the car and stuff and got £1000+

It seems to me that james.miller would have said sorry to the woman that hit her and then run away... thanks goodness my wife remembered the plate! :p

its not damaged unless he's tried to clean it off and failed. as for whiplash come on.., 9/10 people who claim have never had it anyway. ooh bit of a stiff neck, better claim whiplish. oooh bit of black mark on my motherboard (still works though and it'll clean off), better claim for a new board. actually on that subject, GAZ1988 how old is the board?

Hmmm. claiming isnt exactly standing up for yourself, is it?

well, if she had to take a couple weeks off work, had difficulty moving ect then good for her. no reason why should should claim if it caused a loss of earnings and shes clearly not the sort of person i was referring to:) . if not then well done, think about that as your premium increases lol

That's a pretty far fetched assumption of me. totally wrong btw

I'd defiantly want a new motherboard out of them, working or not.
That slight, incidental scorch mark will come back to bite him in the ass if his motherboard does fail one day.
I mean come on, we have suppliers refusing to repair stuff now because it has a tiny speck of dust on it for heaven sake.
