Hello

Still new to this overclock game as this will be my first attempt on my newly built pc i just have a few questions before i have a go. I have read a lot about it to try to make an effort into understanding it all aswell btw.

my oc genie button changes my 2500k to 4.2 mhz and my ram to 1600. is there any point in doing an overclock myself? i was going to aim for around 4.5 mhz anyway, but oc genie has almost got there on its own. Will it be worth playing around with for an extra .3 or .4 ?

is there anything i am sort of missing out on by using this oc genie button on a 24/7 basis?

also some people oc this board with vcore on auto to allow for reduced idle voltage power saving. if i were to oc should i do it this way or go for the manual vcore

Thanks, Rob

I would steer away from the 'auto' OC options motherboards come shipped with these days, the often overcompensate on the voltages and sometimes push things too high (My board tried to tell me I was stable at 5.4ghz 1.55v)

Do some reading up, take things slow and do a manual OC, will be worth it in the end.

Thank you, my vcore is currently reading 1.336v on auto which is probably high for 4.2mhz ?

I have read up for hours on this and i know about slowly upping the multi and the vcore but iam unsure about all many power and other settings like cpu phase, overvolt, eist, eup2013 etc etc etc lol

one other thing i would like to ask: cpuid shows my ram timings as 9.9.9.27 2t, they are supposed to be 9.9.9.24 2t is this better or worse lol is it something that needs to be addresed

That is probably too high, as said it will push them higher than needed. 1.336v is a safe voltage but you could be stable at a lower one. This will also reduce temps.

You can set the RAM timings yourself. 9-9-9-27 is worse than 9-9-9-24 but to be honest you would very much struggle to tell the difference apart from benchmarking
