Gigabyte cooler is quieter. Not enough of a benefit to ruin the colour scheme of the rig, perhaps? I'm sure people here could give you dba numbers.

the "boost" may or may not come with a 7970 pcb depending on batch. if you want a 7970 pcb guaranteed go for the "v2" twin frozr.

the gigabyte has no vrm heatsinks, but is quieter and cooler on the core. i don't see the logic behind prioritising ram cooling over vrm cooling, but there you go.

the msi is l-o-u-d. it also has a 7970pcb dependent on which version you go for, but it doesn't make a difference.

I'd go for the Gigabyte because of their customer service. Hopefully things won't go pop but if they do you'll appreciate the service that doesn't make a bad situation feel worse.

I think your right, after building my rig over a long few months and making sure all the cables match etc the PCB of a GPU being blue is just to much lol

Ill be replacing my 6850 with a 7950 very soon so im wondering is it as simple as taking out the 6850 and putting in the 7950? Basicly im asking is there no need to reinstall the drivers

I currently use 12.10 as 13.1 gave me issues on my 6850

I went from a 5850 to a 7950 a couple of weeks ago, I didn't uninstall the drivers (they were the latest so I thought pfff, it's fine) and got weird problems which were non-trivial. I fixed them by reinstalling and using Driver Sweeper. So at least uninstall the drivers, I say. :)

Ok, cheers for the reply

I just got my new GPU around 10minutes ago from the DPD guy and after removing it from the box i noticed it is covered in finger prints and scratched -_- (the pcie protector is hanging off and so is the crossfire, there is no protectors in the mini display ports). Did i get given a second hand card?

This happened to someone else recently, returned card pawned off as new. IIRC the poster got it sorted out after some complaining to customer service.
