Hi guys,

Sorry to be a pain but this is the second board I have only ever clocked and dont have a clue on what to change and what not to, so please bare with me.

Can someone point me in the direction on where to begin clocking the "MSI P35 Platinum"

I'm using

4gb 667 Ram
E8400 Wolfdale 3.00GHz (1333FSB)
ATI HD 2600 512m DDR2 PCI-E DUAL DVI-TVO

There are a load off settings I'm unfamilar with, heres some screen shots:

I really only know the basics like the FSB and CPU Freq. I also know to go in and set the Advance DRAM Config manually, set the PCI-E to 4X, after that I'm stuck.

Dont know the following:

D.O.T. Control
Intel EIST
FSB Memory Ratio( I think is 9)
Auto Disable DIMM/PCI Freq
VTT FSB
NB Voltage
SB I/O Power
SB Core Power
IOAPIC Function
MPS TABLE (set to 1.4 I think)

I know the boot protection has to be enabled, I think???
And the Logo Disabled.

Cheers guys

Yeah leave the boot protection enabled.

D.O.T. Control - Automatic overclocking. Leave it disabled.
Intel EIST - Intels powersaving mode (drops voltage and speed at idle).
FSB Memory Ratio - The ratio of memory speed to FSB speed. The lowest setting will have the memory running at the same speed at the FSB (times 2 since its DDR2).
Auto Disable DIMM/PCI Freq - Not sure tbh.
VTT FSB - CPU FSB termination voltage. Boosting it allows higher FSB speeds. But only really needed once you get the CPU to over 400mhz, and even then it should only be upped a notch ot two at a time.
NB Voltage - Northbridge/MCH voltage. Similar as the VTT voltage, and helps stablise higher memory clocks.
SB I/O Power - Another voltage setting. Not really sure exactly what it does.
SB Core Power - Southbridge voltage. Not really needed to be fiddled with, but doesn't hurt to up it a bit.
IOAPIC Function - No idea.
MPS TABLE (set to 1.4 I think) - No idea.

Google will probably provide the answers that I can't.

Thanks for the info mate, I got it sorted, just took me a while to get back to you mate, I was away in the lorry for a day or two and not long back.

I did a bit off tweaking and fine tuning and setted for 3.9Ghz. Had it at 4Ghz but Max temp were reaching 67C, so happy with this:)

Will run Orthos overnigh but its looking good so far.

Cheers guys
:)

Setting are:

CPU Voltage: 1.40
Memory Voltage: 2.20
VTT FSB Voltage: 1.375
NB Voltage: 1.425
SB I/O Power: 1.6
SB Core Power: 1.15

Just hope I aint gonna burn anything out, although I dont game so hopefully I'll be safe enough:)

I just lowered a few settings and running Orthos as I'm posting.

CPU Voltage: 1.40
Memory Voltage: 2.20 Changed to 2.10v
VTT FSB Voltage: 1.375
NB Voltage: 1.425 Changed to 1.300v, was lookin a bit high:)
SB I/O Power: 1.6
SB Core Power: 1.15

So far so good:)
