There is an Intel ME (management engine) firmware update for P67, this is reported to enchance CPU performance but either way is considered pretty important.

This update is not confined to MSI, all vendors should be offering this to their customers shortly.

MSI are planning to include the update files along with update instructions with future non-beta BIOS releases to make sure that our customers don't have to go looking for it.

The P67A-C45 update is ready and available with the latest release BIOS here : http://www.msi.com/service/download/bios-15493.html

The P67A-GD55/65 update is available here with the latest non-beta BIOS v1.7 : http://www.msi.com/service/download/bios-15498.html

probs me being stupid and not being able to understand the document inside, but I put the files on a bootable usb, went inside my bios under "flash bios" i think and booted the ver 1.7 (curent is 1.4) it flashed, restarted and gave me this error:

wrong way to do it I guess or?

the bios version in the zip is meant to be installed after the intel ME update, The intel upate instructions are contained in the zip file, doc called SOP iirc

i dont think you've done anything terminally wrong though. If you remove the USB stick, clear CMOS and reboot do you end up at that same screen?

I updated the bios in the same way without any issues. So no sure what happened with your update. One thing I did notice was when the 1.8 beta was installed it was very quick. Due to a few bsod's I decided to use 1.7 and it took ages it install. So hoping it did the intel me first then the bios. All I know is that it's more stable than 1.8.

Cant find any doc named SOP ;o or anytihng close to it.

Hi Scott:

There are no instructions in either of the zip files on updatding the intel ME.

Each archive has a word document dated 2008 that just generically tells you how to update MSI' bioses

The bios file, AFUDE234.exe flash tool and a text file the contents of which are:

P67A-C45 (MS-7673) V1.6 BIOS Release
-------------------------------------------------

1. This is AMI BIOS release

2. This BIOS fixes the following problem of the previous version:

- Update Intel ME firmware version to 1164.

And

the 1.7v bios download for the c45, id assume they did the same for the gd55/65 also had a batch file that runs through the bios update and the intel firmware update automatically. just formatted a usb stick to dos bootable then ran the batch file at the command prompt, didnt have no problems.

It is not the BIOS that is missing. There are no instructions for the Intel ME firmware update as stated in the OP.

i downloaded the file a week or so ago, and it had 8 files inside the rar, including the intel firmware, the batch file that runs both the bios update and the firmware update. i've just downloaded the same file again (same name, still have it in download directory renames this to (1)), and now it only contains 4 files, theyve been removed for some reason?

Geezer, thats not good mate, you should RMA that board it shouldn't do that, there is something physically wrong with it if thats the case.

could anyone provide an idiot-proof guide to flashing please? i tried the update via the msi website but saw at the last minute it required 32bit Windows.

cheeeeers in advance.

Take the cmos battery out for 5 mins, then try it.

dave_beast - tried 1.8b10 from your other post and can now save settings OK. Thanks for the link.

Biffa - there is a thread on this problem on the MSI forums and this BIOS seems to be the fix but the link given over there wasn't working - dave_beast's link to the BIOS update worked fine.

Any luck finding that doc? been trying to update bios again today but get the same error as posted above, assuming I need to update intel ME or?
