I just built my new rig last night and am having issues with the graphics card. My setup is basically:
Case: Aerocool Dead Silence
Mobo: Asus H81m-plus Micro-atx
CPU: i5-4440
Ram: Corsair vengeance LP 8gb
GPU: MSI R9 270x
PSU: Corsair RM550
Windows 7
When I first booted the PC I was worried to see strange white stripes all over the screen, this was in bios, startup screens and on windows. The stripes range from chequered boxes all over to big thick ones all down the screen. I installed mobo drivers as normal and then headed over to AMD to download the latest drivers; it prompts me to restart my pc to finish the installation and now all of a sudden it won't boot up into windows. I kept having to uninstall the drivers in safe mode and then it would work again (display still showing stripes).
I checked all the connections and they seemed fine APART from one of the PSU connections to the GPU. One of the 6-pins would click in nice and easily, the other one required quite a bit of force and despite appearing fully in, would not click. This still did not fix my problem.
I decided to remove the GPU and boot from the integrated graphics which is now working perfectly so it clearly must be something to do with the GPU. I'm currently installing anti-virus, etc but I really want to get this issue fixed ASAP. I'm going to re-install the graphics card and triple-check all the connections but I wanted advice on whether I'm missing anything or if there's something I can do to help? There is a switch on top of the GPU which I'm not sure what it does, would this have any significance? And I'm right in thinking I just need the GPU connected to the PCI-E slot with the 2 6-pin connections and that should be it? I'm not missing anything? (the user guide was pants!)
Any help would be much appreciated, this is my first build and so far everything has been a bit of a pain, I was hoping the GPU would be the easy part....
Thanks in advance!
