This is all I have plugged into to try do the bios flash. White light inside usb port flashed 3 times when i press button

MSI MAG X570 TOMAHAWK WIFI AMD X570 Chipset (Socket AM4) ATX Motherboard
Corsair HX Series HX850 850 Watt 80 PLUS Platinum Certified Fully Modular PSU

I downloaded the bios file and extracted it and renamed it MSI.ROM. Plugged into the USB slot next to the flash bios button, switched the PSU switch. Press the flash bios button and nothing happens. Ocassionally I see a white light inside the USB port (not my usb) it flashes and doesn't come back. It's been 20mins and nothing has happened.

Did you check the motherboard to see if it says 5000 series cpu ready ?

Did you put the power connecters in the cpu header also.

Mite be worth trying a diffrent usb drive as some people were having problems with some.

You could put it together on the bench and see if it boots up as it may work.

i told told the 5800x will not work i have to flash bios. i didn't wanna risk installing cpu to check because i don't have the utlility to clean and uninstall cpu again to apply plaste. i really don't know what to do. how do i know if my mobo is needed to flash bios? i read everywhere 5800x needs flash before installing it.

I have that motherboard and it needed flashed to accept my 5950x. Unless you bought it very recently and it was manufactured in the last couple of months it’ll need flashed. I did mine with CPU in place though. What happens when you try to flash it?

Mite say on the box 5000 ready.

You could put the cooler on without the paste it's only to get it to boot up into thd bios it wont do any harm.

Did you have the power cables connected at the top of ths motherboard by thd cpu block also ?
