Bought a MSi TwinFroZR ii March 2011 and in the past few days noticed the front of the two fans sometimes stops rotating. Watching MSi afterburner it actually reports the fan speed as 0 when this happens. After a few seconds it resumes spinning again.
I play SWTOR and it hammers the GPU. This has caused me to get my first GPU temp warning today, when the temps reached 95 degrees. Too hot!
I have contacted my retailer that I bought this card from, and they are happy to RMA it, but that means I will be without my primary card for anything up to 6 weeks.
Do you think if I contact MSi directly they could just send me a replacement fan or HS/Fan and I could return only the faulty fan/HS ?
Or do you think there may be other factors in play here, voltage issue? I personally just think the fan itself has packed up. If I remove the card and spin the fan by blowing on it, Fan 1 does not spin while fan 2 spins freely. If I spin it with my finger, fan 1 stops almost imemdiately, while fan 2 continues to spin freely for a bit.
I have posted a video of the card in operation here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTEIWKUtIN0 - you can see the fan stop and resume.
