I've setup a 9800x3D on this motherboard this evening, and it all seems good so far, except one thing

If I start the PC with my S24 Ultra connected to the front USB port on the case, I get the following message: "USB device Over Current Status Detected, System will shut down in 15 seconds to avoid damage to the motherboard."

If I plug in the phone after windows starts, it charges very quickly and no issues.

I have the latest BIOS.

My Wife had that issue recently, it was a bad cable.

Looks like they have released a new bios revision : 7E51v1A24
It has AGESA PI-1.2.0.3a Patch A
Has anyone tried it yet ? I'm always hesitant with new bios' and tend to give them a month to cook before installing but i know some of you guys are on the bleeding edge.

I'm happy to try it out.

What would be the best before and after benchmark to use?

- AGESA PI-1.2.0.3a Patch A released.- Optimized the memory compatibility of single rank (1R) under 2DPC configuration.- Optimized the memory compatibility of dual rank (2R) under 1DPC configuration.- Please update the chipset driver to version 7.01.08.129 for better gaming performance.

I saw that yesterday too, holding out for a few days to see how others find it though as my system seems to be quite stable using the previous version.

For your USB-C power thing, on your board do you have the extra PCI-E power connector hooked up (located on the bottom edge of the board) not sure it is totally relevent but I do wonder if under some conditions that may be supplying volts to the USB-C PD side of things?

I do actually.

I guess I could disconnect it, to rule it out.

I have installed the new BIOS, though I did make sure to install the new chipset drivers first which are on the MSI site but not AMDs.

The only real issue I had is that suddenly my windows PIN didn't work and I had to reset it.

Will run AIDA64 system memory stress test for an hour and see how we go.

Yea Aida64 and Cinebench are usually the go to benchmarks, TestMem5 is also good for reliability testing

Here's my timings

Ran fine for hours, but Aida64 latency was 81ms which seems ridiculously high to me

If anyone ever wants to install a 2280 m.2 in slot 1 on this motherboard - I had to remove the actual sticky heatsink pad from the bottom of the m.2 slot to enable me to be able to fit the drive correctly.

Pretty much filled it up with drives now

2GB Crucial T705 in M2_1 at Gen 5x4
2GB Samsung 980 Pro in M2_2 at Gen 4x4
2GB Samsung 980 Pro in M2_4 at Gen 4x4

Had to disable the USB 4 to get full bandwidth on the M2_2 drive, sadly.

However if you happen to have a Samsung 990 Evo or Evo Plus, you can get those two specific drives running at full speed Gen 4x4 and still keep USB 4.
