I have a MSI Z68A-GD55 (G3) that I think is unstable.

Woke up on Sunday morning, computer was hanging(only the mouse moving) with 1 core@100%

Various different bluescreens, all with different faults each time.

The PC when it works, will hit 1hr in idle, browsing then hang.

Everytime it hits 1hr, it hangs.

Will play games as long as it's less than an hour, but if you try a second game, it hangs.

Trying to save any settings in the bios(actual), it hangs.

In windows, it will let you change bios settings, sometimes.

[email protected] now at stock

16Gb- now 1 4Gb stick

Everything removed from USB's, booted with just a PS2 mouse(brought in to test, never used before)

All HD's removed bar Windows HD(sweparate backup HD used, still same result)

Internal USB headers removed

GPU's removed

Sound card removed

PSU swapped out

Latest bios installed and attempted to clear the cmos, but settings look to be the same after clearing cmos.

It can only be the cpu or MB, but as it hangs in the actual mb bios when you try to save any settings, I would tend to think it's the MB.

Any help or ideas.

Must add that this systems been up and running since September and never skipped a beat, 100% stable until Sunday morning.

Thanks for the thoughts.

Ended up being my M4 128gb SSD Windows drive(99% sure, still testing stability on the whole).

It's cutting out, disappearing, then sometimes returning, sometimes not.

Gutted as I never disconnected it when I booted from another backup HD, schoolboy error, so so annoyed with myself as I bought and installed a Sabertooth Z77 board(bought elsewhere as OcUK has none in stock)!:(

Looks like I will be DSR'ing the board as it's very hard to justify the cost, more so because the MSI MB has been bullett proof and wrongly blamed for the problem.

It got flashed with the performance bios last September, what one it was I can't remember, it was faultless until Sunday morning, the system would only run for maximum 1hr then crash without fail.

Do you think a bios flash would solve any problems?

I just presumed one of the rams have become dodgy as it's not a total failure, yet.

Just thought it would be a straight RMA job back to Crucial.

Thanks for the info Martini, looks like it's sorted itself out with the firmware update, not very happy with Crucial tbph at the moment though!

Nothing like letting your customers know that there is a 5000hr/7 month bug is there?

Like, put word out on the big sites or ask the etailers to get in contact with who ever bought one to stop folks like me going through the hassles I had never mind the cost from rebuilding a PC only to rebuild it back again on Sunday with another new W7 install!

Then DSR'ing a MB, leaving myself out of pocket!
