Hello OcUK,

So I was getting BSoDs so I was checking all sorts, I solved the GPU issue and now I have another, new issue. This issue has arisen since I flashed the BIOS to the latest firmware. Running all default setting in BIOS.

The problem is that depending on what RAM slots I use, the computer won't boot. It powers up, but no output to the screen and after about 5sec if restarts itself. Therefore no boot to BIOS. Below are sequences of RAM slots used, hopefully you can figure out what's wrong from this data.

I should probably add at this point that I have ran all permutations with 4 different RAM modules, 2 of which are brand new. The results for each combination is the same independent of which stick of RAM I have used.

Working:
Slot 1:Empty
Slot 2:Empty
Slot 3:Full
Slot 4:Empty

Slot 1:Empty
Slot 2:Empty
Slot 3:Empty
Slot 4:Full

Slot 1:Empty
Slot 2:Empty
Slot 3:Full
Slot 4:Full
^Currently using^

Don't Work:
Slot 1:Full
Slot 2:Empty
Slot 3:Empty
Slot 4:Empty

Slot 1:Empty
Slot 2:Full
Slot 3:Empty
Slot 4:Empty

Slot 1:Full
Slot 2:Empty
Slot 3:Full
Slot 4:Empty

Slot 1:Empty
Slot 2:Full
Slot 3:Empty
Slot 4:Full
^Was using this as this is what's recommended in the manual ^

Slot 1:Full
Slot 2:Full
Slot 3:Empty
Slot 4:Empty

Slot 1:Full
Slot 2:Full
Slot 3:Full
Slot 4:Full

Dual channel slots are 1,3 and 2,4. So I currently have 2 slots running in different channels.

What are you installing your OS onto? Have you enabled ACHI in the BIOS if it's an SSD as a BIOS update would set to factory settings, defaulting the SATA controller to IDE.

Which RAM sticks you use and which settings (might be required to set them manually = speed, voltage & timings).

BTW, in MSI mobos after BIOS update it's more safe to fire up PC with ONE memory module populated, once PC boots up = it's ready to populate the rest.

I have 2 sets of identicale pairs. I've tried both on default settings and one pair on XMS at 1.5v which the spec says those modules run at in Ivybridge.

Is it worth trying to install the bios again and only use one stick of ram?
