Hey guys,

I just got this motherboard for a build I'm doing and when booting I see this error ''using pci gen 2.0 can't find any device''

I've updated to the latest BIOS and made sure Pci Gen 3.0 is enabled but still the same result

Anyone got any ideas ?

Dam, was hoping it was something simple like not using a IB CPU or a non Gen3 GFX card:D

You say you updated the BIOS, to confirm, that is the latest 10.7?

Yeh, A.70 is the BIOS version I updated to.

I did a google search earlier and found 2 people with same issue but no info on how to resolve.

Ummm,

The GFX card is in the top slot?

It did this error with the BIOS it came with out of the box?

Maybe try going backwards to 10.6?

Sorry, but as you can probably tell, I'm clutching at straws.

Edit..you could just leave it in 2.0 mode and not worry about the 2% performance difference?

Card is in the top slot and yeh it did the same with the original bios version too.

I can only try going back I guess, was thinking maybe there was another setting I had to tweak in BIOS or something.

Just downloaded the manual for it and nothing stands out as being an obvious BIOS option to fiddle with.

Just the PCi-E3.0 enable/disable thing you are on about.

Here's something strange, even though it shows that message I just popped into GPU-Z and it shows the card running at 3.0 when used!

I dunno what's going on but its obviously working like it should now for whatever reason, very unusual if you ask me but anyways thank you for the help.

I have this board too. It did this when I was on the original a50 bios but went on a subsequent update. But in the latest beta bios a71, it does show when I have an external drive connected to the asmedia sata, so I wonder if the asmedia sata is using the pci-e gen 2.0 bandwidth, or it's just a post message error? It confused me as I'm just using integrated graphics at the moment.

I'll double check tomorrow as I've made a lot of changes lately.

Checked mine this morning with the latest BIOS A71. I get nothing showing in POST other than the MSI boot logo screen prior to W8 logo and logon. If the external drive is powered on during POST it gets picked up by Asmedia OROM and states something about PCI-E Gen 2.0 but not that it's in error.

Just wondered does it make any difference changing the integrated graphics setting in the BIOS between PEG and IGD?

Also have you checked for any unnecessary motherboard standoffs? Also you could try just slightly loosening the motherboard screws.
