I hope that someone can help me with this, because it's driving me mad.

My PC was built to order by OCUK in January 2014. It has worked fine until recently when it would randomly fail to activate any of the USB devices connected the motherboard-mounted rear USB ports. The ports were completely inactive and would not register anything plugged in/removed from them. The case-USB 3.0 header worked fine. I read somewhere that this can be an issue with the MSI Z87i board, and that putting the system into hibernation and waking it up would re-activate the rear USB ports, which it did. However, upon wake up, I would often find that the onboard Wi-Fi would not work. This was not a huge problem, as it usually came back on after a time.

I believe that the USB issue was linked to a Logitech G430 headset which I had left plugged in the rear USB as since I have removed them, the USB problem has not re-occurred.

However, the Wi-Fi issue is becoming much worse, with the Wi-Fi board only activating approx 25% of the time. When checking Device Manager, I see a warning triangle next to the 'Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless - N 2230', with it reporting that:

'This device cannot start. (Code 10)

{Operation Failed}
The requested operation was unsuccessful.'

I have tried disabling it, reinstalling the drivers and done everything I can think of to get it running again. All BIOS / Drivers are the latest versions according to the MSI LiveUpdate suite.

I suspect that it is an issue with Windows 10 somewhere, as it never happened under Win 8.1, but I'm damned if I can figure it out.

System Specs:

Case: BitFenix Prodigy
Power Supply:Corsair 600w PSU
OS: Windows 10 (64-bit / DirectX12)
Motherboard: MSI Z87I (MS - 7851) v1.0

Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 780 2Gb
Headphones: Logitech G430 (Now disconnected)

Keyboard: QPad MK-50 (PS/2)

This is everything that is connected to the system.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Many thanks.

Hello,

Update the network drivers (inc. wifi) and then look for Power Options > Advanced Power Options in Windows 10 and change USB Selective Suspend Setting to Disabled.

Do not use/trust Live Update. Check the website manually for drivers.

Your CX600 doesn't support the low power sleep states. Does the problem occur when you turn your pc off then on again?

It can occur from a clean boot or from wake-up. I have tried the steps suggested by Danny75 and *fingers crossed* it was stable yesterday. I will wait and see what happens over the next few days.

Thanks guys for your asssistance.

Balls.

Since the last post, the system has been 'fairly' stable. I have had multiple instances of the network adapter not working, but a quick click on device manager, update drivers, select from list (there are 2 drivers listed, so I could alternate between them) seemed to get it up and running.

However, it seems to have gone back to its old ways and is not recognising the network adapter at all - it's not even showing as an unknown device in Device Manager, so I cannot change or update the driver.

I am getting pretty hacked off with this now. Is it possible to upgrade the Network Card on this motherboard to a more reliable model? If so, any suggestions?
