MSI Z890 LED Connection Problems?

I have a new MSI Z890 Intel Tomahawk Motherboard and would like to add some LED’s. I have purchased a set of Phantek LEDs to match the case I bought and they don’t seem to work. I have tried board connections JRGB1, JARGB_V2_1 and JARGB_V2_2 with no luck at all. I did see a faint red light on the LED strip at 1 point but nothing other than that. I have tried MSI support but can't get beyond registration and the page errors.

Can anyone tell me what I may be doing wrong please?

Can you link the exact (or specify the model number of the) item that you purchased please.

Yes, it was the Phanteks RGB LED Strip Starter Kit (PH-LEDKTCMBO)

My basket at OcUK:
I can't find it on the Phanteks website anywhere, which is helpful of them.

There's two types of RGB.
- RGB, which is 4 pin and uses 12v.
- ARGB, which is 3 pin and uses 5v.

Phanteks unfortunately have their own proprietary connectors, which means they include adapters for the part that connects to the motherboard.

In the description on OCUK, this appears to be a RGB kit, which uses 4 pin and 12v, corresponding to the JRGB connectors on the motherboard (likely with an adapter).

BUT, the closest kit I can find on their website is actually a DRGB kit, which I believe Phanteks consider equivalent to ARGB and uses 5v. Again, an adapter might be required and it corresponds to JARGB (Rainbow) on the MSI motherboard.

If you're able to confirm which type of kit you have, that would tell you which connector to use. Please don't try both without knowing though, because you can fry stuff.

This is the kit I am using, it looks like the LEDs are not compatible with the case?
According to the description of the kit, you can either connect it to a compatible Phanteks case, OR a compatible motherboard, so I don't think you need a compatible case.

In answer to your question: I can't see any mention of that. From what I can gather, your case includes 4x DRGB fans and this is not part of an expandable hub?

OK thanks Tetras.
