Hello,

Unfortunately I did not research before attempting to update my BIOS.
My motherboard was on v2.3 and I stupidly decided to update my BIOS using the M-Flash utility to v2.6.

I put the bios files on a usb stick that was formated to fat (not fat32)
went into my bios and chose update with m-flash. It all appeared to work fine until the reboot came.

The machine will now not boot into anything.

I have tried clearing the CMOS, taking the battery out. booting with and without the usb drive plugged in.

I have tried putting the USB into the back on the machine formatted in fat32 this time and disconnecting all other drives including optical drive but nothing.

I have read that the board doesn't have dual bios function, unless someone can tell me otherwise and also read that I have pretty much bricked my board.

Just after some help before it goes back.

****EDIT*****

Motherboard has now been refunded and im in the market for a new one :D

Yet another MSI board bricked by their crap flashing software. It's not your fault, it's their awful software. Your best bet is to try for a RMA.

One more if you're up to it. Download the original (first) BIOS from the website, put the file (which should be in .ROM format) on the usb drive, plug it in. Start up the computer and spam F2 to enable usb boot. If successful and you enter BIOS, flash to that original file with M-Flash (choose BIOS & ME). Long shot but apparently worked for a few people.

USB in fat23 format? ill try it when i get home

Had the same thing with a Z97m-g43, luckily only had it a week so took it back and went with Gigabyte instead.

you could order a bios chip and replace it, some just clip in and others you have to solder, there only £14 to buy of the bay.

Doing a build soonish and i was going to go with matx msi z97 but think I will give it a miss and pay extra for the genie

Good choice. It's seems to be a very good board and quite a few on here have them now. It has most of the stuff that the ROG boards have, decent audio, crossfire and SLI support. Look's good too. If I was buying a board now, that's where my money would go.
