right I just been googling for the solution for over 2days now, most say you need to do something to ZoneAlarm or AVG, which either I dont have or use, another solution I found was to delete contacts cache, nope nada, still doesn't work, anyone else have the same issue when trying to log on and get this error code?

Ah I've been having this for a while and I use Zone Alarm and AVG. I just gave up and installed Pidgin which works (although crashes when I accept a file transfer and doesn't support webcam :()

Any idea what I'm supposed to change in AVG/Zonealarm to fix it?

ah I'm using crappy Trillian, grrr so disgusting and so damn dodgy to use! Thing is, most sites say it's fault due to ZA, but havn't used ZA on this system ever so it's like wtf!?

System date/time correct?

Also worth noting I think the date/time in the bios needs to be right before you can sucessfully set the date/time within windows? seem to remember windows complaining that the system date/time was different to the windows date/time when I tried altering it

Bumping this thread because I have the same error code. My system date/time is correct. And I have never used AVG or Zone Alarm. I r sad panda. I recently updated my version of Messenger. Inititally it was fine. But the past few days I always get this error. Re-installing and deleting profile didn't help.

the whole thing has gone boobs up, cant get into hotmail, messenger or even try reset your password. Servers are a farce just says try later.

Well at least it's not just me. Went to install to some windows updates for Windows 7 and couldn't sign back into messenger when it rebooted.

" All systems are stable and running." apparently ho ho ho

the way i sorted it was format the machine, i was doing it anyways so it helped to kill 2 stones with 1 bird, and nw msn works!

Start > Run

netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled

.. Was the only solution that worked for me when I was having this problem and a reformat wasn't an option!

Just a heads up. There's a nifty little trick to make sure MSN always connects. You add its address into your host file. I had no end of problems with this until I made this change:

65.54.239.80 messenger.hotmail.com

Add that to the bottom of your hosts file (C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc) and all your problems will be banished for EVAR!
