Without going to far over the line, I used to have a program that does it, and it works.
Scary thing is any idiot could do it to another person because it's a simple program. But it needed to be sent to that person and opened up by the victim before you could go and use the program on the host.

Also did the person receive any files from someone that they ran recently, or had someone on their computer?

Theirs some source floating around which you can compile and it decrypts your msn password (it works only if you have 'save password enabled' I think). Just don't accept attachments from people you don't know. Also get them to change their password.

Well, i've never actually used it, i was trying to explain to somebody else over msn how to use it, which is never easy when you cant see what they see, regardless of the task.

Avast is the dog's, mate. I've been using it for 2 years now. Very small footprint (not a resource hog) and updates very regularly (sometimes twice in one day). Easy to use too and does everything you need it to do including e-mail, MSN, P2P etc.
