Hi

has anyone been getting messages via MSN live messager to look at random spam websites? I done the usaul scans with the AV and Malware but its not coming up with anything and my internet is a bit of a dog at the moment, but I'm not sure if thats relateted as my exchange is being upgraded by bt.

Thanks

Are the people the messages are from not in your list?

If they are in your friends list then they have a virus or their MSN password has been breached.

I get random messages over MSN now and then. None in the last few months. I just block then close the window. My PC is squeaky clean, so I wouldn't worry.

Do you get messages from people in your contacts list? There is a virus/worm/whatever that can cause people's Messengers to spam links to everyone. As long as you don't click any links you will be fine.

they are all from certain people thats on my contact list... wierd thing is that I'm a linux and apple user too (I know thats bad in this selection of the forum) but only seem to get the messagers when using MSN live and not the linux/apple verisons of the software, but having said that I'm not usally logged in to msn live unless I'm on windows. And they spamming me when I'm offline too...

Are they from the same people every time? It's more likely to be their PC that is infected. Not getting the messages on Linux or Mac is probably a coincidence.

Email them both telling them to scan their PC for viruses. Plenty of good ones out there. Also tell them they will be blocked until they have fixed it!

When two people I knew had the virus at the same time I got spammed several times, I just blocked their arses - problem solved.
