MSN Messenger - Appear Offline Sign-In

My friend who has a mac, and therefore the mac version of msn, is able to sign in while appearing offline. i.e. he can sign in, see his contact list etc. but no-one knows that he has signed in.

On the window where you enter your email address and password he has a scroll down box to select what state to sign in as.

How can I do this on Windows MSN Messenger?

Upgrade to MSN Messenger 7.5 its there by default. Or it is on mine.

Urm...upgrade to the latest version. It has been support for ages.

You can do it in MSN 8 with the current beta. You get a drop down to choose status which you will be when you sign in.

Yeah, it's there on the latest version of MSN messenger. If it's not there download the most recent.

I also thought it saved your last status when you signed out.... so if you want to appear offline, signout with that status.

Nope you can choose, I always log in as offline, so I dont get a load of little random girls who added me after half a can of white lightenin start hassling me :\
