Has anyone's MSN Messenger stopped working?

Today is the day that it is meant to be 'cut off'

I'm still looking for my replacement to MSN. All I want is to send messages and be notified of new email in my Hotmail account by the same program - just like MSN does now.

There is a program called amsn...looks and feels the same as msn..

They keep telling me it's time to switch to outlook, but when i click switch i get a message telling me it's not available to switch yet

What do Microsoft expect when there's a risk you'll lose all your contacts when you move to Skype lol

Is there a risk of that? Mine went over fine, as did the group of people I talk to on MSN/Skype.

A similar program I use is Pidgin. Currently hooked up to MSN and Gmail's chat. Not opened MSN tonight but it was working fine last night. We're thinking of moving over to Jabber when MSN finally pops its clogs.

Yes it's been all over the Skype forums and Microsoft have yet been able to fix or recover the contacts. It can delete some or all of your msn contacts as well as your hotmail contacts.

My hotmail contacts were fine but some of my msn contacts went missing

It's free, not sure if anyone can complain if contacts are lost. Anyway should have moved to Skype way before the date for msn closing.

People still use MSN? I started using Skype years ago. My MSN always signed in but no one is ever online or talking. I'm using them side by side right now.

Really? I run it all the time and at the moment task manager shows it taking up 64mb... Hardly bloat.

Wouldn't say it is bloated either but I do have to say I prefer the MSN UI especially when it has been apatched. I find Skype very cluttered on the desktop version & the Windows 8 app is garbage imo.
