Hi,

My brother moved into uni recently and he's been having some troubles connecting to MSN as well as Outlook. I've had to set him up on Pidgin using the HTTP connection method for now but he doesn't like it very much.

I've tried most of the fixes that I can find on the internet for this error.

We're certain it's not the firewall on his PC, and it's not the Uni's firewall as other people in his flat can connect to MSN perfectly.

I was thinking it might be a problem with port 443 (HTTPS) or SSL connections as MSN, Outlook us them. I have checked and SSL is checked under the Interner Options.

He's using Vista Ultimate x64 SP1

He can connect to the internet and everything else perfectly.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Craig.

My brother is having this problem with Vista 64 bit SP1 as well.

Tried everything I can find on the net.

When I upgraded to Vista a year ago (albeit 32 bit)... I remember having a similar problem. I swear I ran a registry hack to get it sorted but can't find it anywhere !!!!!

Would love a solution as well.

Open Command Prompt (Run as Administrator)

type, netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled
Enter

Should sort your problem.

He just closed both Comodo and NOD32 and he managed to get into MSN, however he still can't send emails through Outlook (he can recieve though). My guess is NOD32 was somehow screwing things up on the MSN side as we did close Comodo last night which didn't help the problem.

Kerplunk, any ideas if that command will help the sending of emails?

Not sure, it might do - Sounds like a firewall issue
