In Live Messenger, if someone adds you to their contact list, your client asks whether you want to recieve messages from them.

Using Pidgin, this doesn't happen, and I get regular (maybe 2 a day) prawn spam which is 'tasteful' yet annoying. What am I doing wrong in Pidgin, or is this a flaw with using MSN through the Pidgin client? I've never recieved spam using the MS Live client.

At work at the minute so I can't confirm BUT I'm fairly sure there is an option that says "Do not receive instant messages from users not in my contact list". I'll confirm which menu tree it is in when I get home but the option is there IIRC.
