MSN

there's really no need for that. It's fairly safe to assume that the OP knows you can use MSN on OSX - he was most likely looking for recommendations, so get off your horse. It took you longer to do *all that work* just to make your pathetic point than it would've just to leave it.

Adium user here. Shame about the lack of webcam support, but just buy some real porn!

i tried using adium - it was pretty good! if you dont want/need webcam support but want an alternative to the standard microshaft messenger then use adium.

aMSN just felt awful to use, really blocky for me even with a new skin, and the popups to tell you when people came online were never on top. and it was slow to use aswell.

i havent tried mercury.

i wanted webcam support - but i guess i'll just have to do without until maybe MS decide to throw us a bone and give the mac messenger support.

Maybe they could have crafted a better OP than "Is it possible to use MSN with OS X?". I have no problem putting effort into replies, providing some effort is put into the questions.

I went to Adium for a while, but kept going back to Messenger tbh.

Don't know why, it just felt familiar and comfortable.. the corporate feature comes in handy too :)

Have I missed something in the Microsoft Messenger, but I can't seem to add aliases for people?

I can't stand people's stupidly long display names, hence I use an alias. When I get my Macbook, I want to be able to do the same...

If not that program, which other does?

There are so many clients, but most look pap.

It'd be easier to try them all, then stick with one you like.

Mercury
Fire
MSN Messenger
Adium
aMSN

..to name a few.

Adium is easily the best looking / fastest with most plugins imo. All the others are quite bulky and cumbersome.

Unfortunately Adium doesn't support webcam / voice / winks which AMSN does, but you can't even have a webcam convo on that, only use video with no voice.

EDIT: Saying that, Skype is far far better for webcam / voip anyway.
