MSVCR80.dll error :-(

Turned on my pc today and can no longer run any decent games, (standard MS ones are fine!)

I've made no hardware, driver or software changes, and today every time i try to load a game (tried crysis, bioshock, lost planet... the list goes on!) it stops responding with a MSVCR80.dll error.

google'ing this seems like its a big issue that happens with loads of software (c++ related??) but i couldnt find any solutions that worked, or a definative cause:confused:

I've tried reinstalling video and audio drivers, reinstalling games, running file integrity check in cmd, running disk check, 'repair windows' from disk etc and still no joy!

just wondering if anyone had experienced this and or has any suggestions,

If not looks like a reformat is on the cards

thanks in advance!

This rang a bell, are you running Vista and is the error message that the .dll cannot be found? You can download a fresh file or get somebody to email it to you if that's the case, I think it appears to get corrupted sometimes..

yeah OS is ultimate x64, i've tried copying the file form else where but not too sure where it is meant to be found!
Its about time for a fresh start anyhow, think i'll reformat over the wknd, thanks anyway
