I've just been looking at my finances, and have almost convinced myself that i can afford a bike!

Anyway, the MAX budget is £800, and i'm not going over that! Current thoughts are the Rock Lobster B52, but i'm not sure on the spec. It's £720, with the spec below:
- Shimano Deore groupset
- Magura Julie brakes
- Magura Phaon forks
They say 'Any build option available please email for a quote' on the site, so are there any upgrades you think would be worthwhile? (take the budget into consideration please!). The bike will be for basic XC, so nothing majorly hardcore to start with at least.

Other option is the Orange P7, but i'm not sure about the skinny frame :D, oh and maybe the Merlin Malt 4.
Any thoughts at all?

What riding do you do? Are you a big guy? Weight wise I mean!

I don't do any riding yet :p But will be basic XC, nothing to hardcore :)

and no i'm not big and heavy at all!

I think the B52 might be a bit OTT for you. Don't be out off my skinny tubes, the frames you mentioned will be plenty strong for a beginner.
