Mountain bike wheels

Im looking for some lightwieght wheels for my GT mountain bike.
My buget is about £60-£70 for the rear and same for front.
Its for V brakes as that will make a difference to the hub.

Was wondering if any of you guys could spec some out for me and the retailers. I get very confussed with the hubs etc. The main uses for my bike is cross country and a wee bit of the trails (fast single track)

Edit - all black with spokes if possible.

thanks.

just to second weescott, I have used merlin wheels for years, had them serviced a number of times after many many miles of road and xc riding, highly recommended. Better than any local cycle shop deals i have tried, sorry guys but you have hard competition from merlin on your hands.

:)

im realy looking for "ultra light weight" which wont buckle etc...

I will take alook at the merlin wheels.

"Ultra light weight" and a budget of £150 don't really go hand-in-hand ;)

For instance, a CrossRide rear is £70 and 1060g according to Wiggle. A CrossMax Enduro is £135 and 985g. The CrossMax SL is "better" at 945g but is £235

Law of diminishing returns I believe...

Mavic really are bomb proof.
i had a rear blow out on a technical downhill rocky section years ago. By the time I had stopped the rear tyre was cut to shreds on the sidewall as for the innertube, forget it!! The Mavic ceramic rim was barely pitted and not even buckled!!!
Offthread, I placed dock leaves inside the tyre to cover the shredding and replaced the innertube and limped home :)
The mavics are well worth the money if only to place them on a cheaper front hub and better rear hub.
