Has anyone used ,mTech Brake disks/pads

Looking at replacing the front Disks on my Hyundai coupe (2L). I've been looking at mTech Drilled/grooved disks.

Just wondering if anyone has had experience with the brand

not saying I specifically need drilled/grooved. They don't actually offer a normal disk option.

In 2 minds just wanted an opinion on the brand really. I'll probably end up just getting mintex disks/pads

Only reason I ask is because there's various reports of the 'cheaper' drilled disks being prone to cracking. Not sure if MTech are any good specifically.

I would just go for standard disks from a reputable brand, and whichever pads float your boat for your sort of usage.

I'm an advocate of having decent brakes but, without meaning to cause offense, I highly doubt a Hyundai Coupe requires drilled and grooved disks.

I've not used mtech but have used mintex pads in the past, if you buy the correct model they will be more than good enough, M1144 or something iirc.

all being well ill only have the car for another 18months before my big upgrade to a 07 hawkeye impreza. so ill probably stick with OEM replacements

I've got mtech drilled and grooved discs with ferodo ds2500 on my 350z. I don't track it so can't comment on how they deal with that sort of punishment but for general use I find them great. Can really drop the anchors if needs be.

They were a good price too.

If you mean MTEC - then they are usually more expensive than buying genuinely good quality Brembo/Textar/ATE etc discs. You can bet the basic disc they use is the cheapest you can possibly get, but made to look sporty and appeal to boy racers by a guy drilling them in his garage.

If you don't need drilled/grooved discs - then don't get them. They are noisier than regular discs and go through pads quicker.

I just looked - you can get a pair of front Brembo discs for a Hyundai Coupe 2.0 (2002-2009 model)for £55 delivered. How much were the MTEC ones?

They use Delphi Lockheed discs usually, had a few sets but grooved only (no need for drilled is there really?) and they were great with reasonable quality pads. Same story for me, could really anchor on well and they worked and lasted well.

I've got a set of Corrado G60 MTEC dimpled discs on my MX5 with Ebc yellows which came with my "BBK" they've stood up well so far. Even at Curborough where most people on stock brakes were suffering fade or getting things hot enough to come off the track smoking

Had a set of their grooved discs with the supplied Mintex pads in the past and whilst yes they were noisy, they were the only discs on that car which didn't end up warping, and they worked really well. I'd have no problems using them again.
