MTS movie format - no sound when played from HDD?

Very odd problem this!

Digital camera records in .MTS files, when played on the memory card (card reader on PC) there's sound, but when copied to HDD and played on the same PC seconds later there's no sound. This happens on some, but not all of the movies. They are identical sizes etc.

Any ideas? I have dozens of short clips, some with sound and some without but all were recorded with sound and worked from SD card.

Looks like it's perhaps a PC related issue rather than file (probably WMP or codec). When I'd closed media player for a while and opened the same file it was working with sound again. Very odd!
