This is a highly overclockable cpu not a small furry animal. You clock the nuts off it, you don't 'bed it in'.

It isn't my PC. Like I have been saying for the last few weeks I have a mate with a Core 2 Duo. OK so I said it was an E6300. E6400 is only better!

I'll edit the competitor tomorrow when I am sober. Not sure I can trust myself with MSPaint at the moment

I have however taken it down, in case a don takes issue and rams a ban hammer home

I had barely had it for 4 hours before it was sitting at 400x7 2.8ghz

I would just like to reiterate it is NOT my Core 2 Duo. If it was it would have been an E6600 at as high as I could get it without burning a hole through my motherboard!

The E6400 in the screenshot is a mate's. Said mate wouldn't know an overclocked CPU if it shook his hand and introduced itself. He won't let me overclock it either, in case it voids his warranty.

My brother is the same - he thinks that overclocking is the devil
Though in his case it's more the fact that generally overclocking leads to more heat which in turn leads to more fan noise to keep it cool

My mate is basically a PC noob. All my efforts on suggesting a better CPU fan that would be cheap as chips have fallen on deaf ears. Basically he is so worried about things going wrong he doesn't dare build his own PC... he even takes his PCs to a certain high street store for upgrades, even though he has me and several other mates who can do it for nowt in his own home.

There is no way in hell I will be able to overclock his CPU while it is still under warranty with the manufacturer he bought it. Christ, he nearly had a heart attack when I opened it up last night to have a quick nosey.
