much difference between 6400 & 8500?

Only if you plan for high overclocks, even then you can still get high clocks on PC6400 ram

As for performance gains erm, not really worth it

Best example will be your sig rig

You could run 400x9 and get 800mhz on RAM no problem with 1:1

If you upped the clock to 450x8 (will be better performance) and still ran 1:1 then your RAM would be running at 900mhz and might require slacker timings

However if you changed the strap at that speed you could get 1080Mhz out of the RAM, which 1066Mhz will easily do at 5-5-5-15

As said unless your planning on running your FSB higher than 400 (or more likely 450 as most RAM can OC atleast that much) theres little gain to be had going for 8500.

I didn't notice a difference between 800MHz and 1600MHz, tried them both... and I really think theres no point unless you want to OC your CPU at insane levels...
