Much difference between EAX 2.0 and 5.0

I am going to buy a new motherboard which supports EAX 1.0 and 2.0 through SPDIF optical. However is it worth paying more for a sound card which supports EAX 5.0, is there much difference? It will be used with a Yamaha AV Package 63 AMP.
