Multi amp selector?

Does anything like this exist;

A box with say 2x6 channel speaker cable inputs to come from two amps. And 1x6 speaker outputs. All internal relays and IR control? One of the guys at work has offered to build me a valve amp, so I'm thinking of how to incorporate it into my Hi-Fi/Home Cinema setup. A box like I have mentioned above would allow me to use the same speakers (currently use KEF IQ9s) and switch the amp to and from the AV-Receiver when moving between films and music.

Also is there a good source for DIY hi-fi kit? Ie, cases, buttons etc?

Kahn, I've not seen a commercial version of the device you're after. There are obviously source-selectors, but these are pre-amp units and not generally designed with amplifier switching in mind.

However, you could build one with relative ease if you have a small amount of electronics knowledge. IR control would be a bit more involved, but a manually switched box would be quite straightforward.
