hi all

got a samsung 206bw today and thought maybe i would keep my old 15" display and use it as a duel screen (not completely decided on the advantages of this other than that i can keep xfire and teamspeak open while i play cod2)

anyway it says that i can set up the two displays to have different backgrounds but i cant seem to find how to do it? also i have seen people having pictures of their displays showing long pictures spread over both displays can that only be achevied by having horizontal span mode on?

hope this makes sense

thanks for any help

Loki

Windows doesn't support separate wallpapers without a separate application (such as Ultramon).

Just found the Vista Ultramon beta :D

If you'd like a taskbar on the secondary screen, and customisation options with regards to screensavers and wallpapers (and don't mind paying for it), then yes. I believe there're alternatives, but I've never felt the need to stray.

im using the trial version at the moment dont suppose anyone knows a free alternative as i didnt really wanna have to pay

On the same subject, is there a way to be able to control a window on the 2nd display, and have something fullscreen on the primary monitor?
(e.g. playing a game on one, and using the internet/msn on the other)

I've found the option on Ultramon to switch the screen the mouse is on, but when you click on anything it minimizes the game.

Whilst it's not the exact thing you're looking for...

You could try running your game in windowed mode at the resolution of your main monitor, that would allow you to click on the secondary display without minimizing your game.
