does multi gpu setups double vram games can use or mirror? so say you had 2 cards which were both 2gb would that give you 4gb to work with or would it just mirror as 2gb?

Multi graphics card question.

Mirror, each card needs to be able to access the data as quickly as possible so if the data one GPU core needed was on the other GPU's RAM the latency required to fetch that data would kill performance - theoretically a single PCB card like the later GTX295, etc. could be developed to use one big bank of memory instead of splitting it - I'm guessing AMD/nVidia don't consider it worth the cost of doing tho when theres already a method that works with their current multi GPU techniques.
