I've been looking for a multi-headphone mixer but cannot find one. Say I'm looking to run a podcasting studio with 4 people, I need a mixer that has mic inputs and headphone outputs. But after looking at Yamaha, Pioneer, Mackie, Behringer and Focusrite, they only seem to have 1 headphone out. Some have multiple line outs but I dont think thats suitable for headphones?

You could use something with multiple line outs, but you'd have to connect headphone amps to those outputs, otherwise you'd have no volume control. Line out is a fixed level.

I've heard presonus are very good, would something like this do and would there be any lag?

Mics > Presonus StudioLive AR8 USB > PC

Presonus StudioLive AR8 USB > PreSonus HP4 > headphones

Not too familiar with mixers, so I couldn't say whether the AR8 would be better than similar priced or cheaper ones. Just looking at some comments and two people complained about the poor quality knobs on it. Hard to gauge how many people found that without many more comments to go on. Some other brands products you could have a look are Berhringer, Allen & Heath and Mackie.

As for the HP4; what you need is a four channel headphone amplifier, which is what the HP4 is. That's £100+ though. There are a couple of Behringer's with plenty of good comments for about £20. I suppose it depends whether you're trying to stick to a budget, or whether there's plenty of cash in the pot, so to speak.

What you are looking for is a headphone distribution amplifier and there are tons of options from cheap and cheerful through to stuff that costs like a new car money.

If you have any electronics DIY skills its actually really simple to make one - though I'd recommend a bit more of an advanced power supply circuit than used in this schematic.
