My brother would like to build a rig with 2 monitors. Is there a screen in particular which is best for the job and is it as simple as, say, getting a GTX 780 (or other compatible card) and hooking up the 2 monitors using a link cable?

Any help would be great. Thanks.

Does he want two screens say for,

One for working on so has nice clarity and colours etc

One for gaming so fast response time but not such a great picture as the other.

Which is what I do.

To be honest i think a bit of both...which is a bad answer but hey..

He said he would like to use them both for gaming and on occasion use them separately as you described. Neither myself nor him know anything about multi monitor set ups, I thought you had to go for the 3 monitors to get benefit for gaming?

Yeah two screens will mean the bezels are directly in the middle, that will look stupid and also I don't even think it can be span across just two displays, you need three as minimum im sure to be able to setup a multi monitor display and to stop the bezels being directly in front of you.

Thats what I thought.

Whats your set up like? If you wouldnt mind, could you put up or link a picture so i can show my brother?

That is these two screens,

YOUR BASKET
1 x Asus PB278Q 27" Professional LED Multimedia Monitor - Black £479.99
1 x AOC G2460PQU 24" Widescreen 144Hz 1ms Gaming LED Monitor - Gunmetal £199.99
Total : £696.48 (includes shipping : £13.75).

Depends on the GFX card but usually two DVI cables and HDMI the other.

The Asus here is connected via Displayport and the AOC is Duallink DVI as thats the only way to get 144HZ on it.

I have two screens. One is in portrait mode for reading forums, websites, and text work, and the other is in landscape mode for watching Youtube, playing games, spreadsheets etc. One monitor is attached via a DVI cable, the other via a Displayport cable.
