Multi monitor setup breaks Crossfire?

I bought a new monitor recently along with another 280x and first impressions have been pretty good, it's running GTA5 well and my Heaven score is on par with similar setups.

I decided to plug in my old monitor to use for some extra desktop space (not gaming) and for some reason i'm only getting 60% GPU utilization in GTA5 and about 85% in Heaven (resulting in a lower score). I tested it by unplugging the 2nd monitor and everything is back to normal.


Is this normal behavior or is there some setting I need to change or something?
 
Ok scratch that, GTA5 is still only getting to about 65% on each GPU and is stuttering like a barsteward :(

Heaven is normal though with 98% on each GPU. Maybe GTA5 has been nerfed by a patch or something?

Make a custom profile for gta in CCC and go to the bottom of it and change the crossfire setting to 1x1 and remember to enable frame pacing if it isnt already. Should work pretty well.
 
Do you have any of the Advanced Graphics options selected? My performance drops if I turn any of those on. What resolution and settings are you running GTAV on? I find my utilisation runs at 100% on both cards during difficult sections (utilisation runs lower when I'm butting against the 60FPS limit of my screens) with all Advanced Graphics options off, MSAA off, and all other settings at their highest at 5760x1080, so Crossfire certainly can perform well in this game.
 
Running 1440p, most settings at their highest level except the Advanced Graphics options which are all off, MSAA x2.
