Hi guys!

Now that the nVidia drivers support multi-display with SLI enabled, I might use an old tft screen that I have as a second monitor for browsing or w/e while gaming / watching a movie, or anything really.

Some games let you use multi-monitors so you can look at two places at the same time in game, like sup com for example. I quite like this too!

How do I go about setting it up though? I know its not just plug monitor into card then it will suddenly work..and I don't want to spend hours trying to figure it out solo :D

Help will be appreciated!

once you have plugged in the second monitor you will need to either reboot(if you connected it whilst the pc was on) or boot up the pc, go into the windows display setting and it should be in the settings tab. you should have a drop down menu on there with display 1 and 2, if not go to nvidia control panel and setup multiple monitors! :)

How does it work anyway, how do I use the mouse etc on the second screen? Also I don't want it to chop my desktop in half and put half on each screen :S

It becomes an empty space for you to play with, you simply move your mouse over there :D

In my case, i have no start bar there, and when i maximise a window, it only opens in one screen, opening over two can look a bit silly with normal monitors.

I'd prefer to have the desktop show on each screen if possible, rather than just an empty space to drag things to

So stretch the desktop? That's an option, but remember when you maximise windows, they'll spread over both and look a bit odd if you've got monitors with large borders.

To clarify, at least in vista, you have the same desktop image on both screens, just only the start menu and shortcuts on one of them (Though you can put shortcuts onto the second if you like.)

One monitor is the primary, that gets the task bar, programs will open in that window, though with most things you can just un-maximise it, deag it to the second monitor and maximise it, and it maximises to that window.

When gaming, there's very few that actually make use of 2 screens (Supreme Commander is the only one that comes ro mind). As for games that don't support it, they will simply fill up the main monitor, leaving the second one showing whatever it used to display, but you can't interact with it unless you alt+tab out.

Thanks for the more concise description iviv :)
MooMoo, the only way you can do that is to clone the screens, which defies the point of having two monitors unless you're doing a presentation for example.

If I can paste shortcuts over its no probs :)

Thanks guys

Oh, another final question - the main monitor goes into the left socket on the top card - where should the second go?
